i would think swapping the motor and tranny would be a better idea. the 88 was the first year for TBI so i guess its electronically controlled like in the 97, with the comp. it looks like the only auto tranny offered for the ramcharger was a TF727A which is the same casing as the 42RH and 46RH so it should bolt up the same. but not sure if the older 318 has all the right connectors and electrical to run the new 4sp tranny and OD


someone wanna back me up on that?

looks like purpl beat me to it by a couple of min. but you either have to swap both or niether.

Hi guys I have been searching and searching on a DIY for a engine swap with some pics and help anyone know a thread I really think i can tackle my 5.9 swap myselfe since its not worth it to pay someone, since my truck has so many issues atm like power steering pump leaking/airbag broken/abs/speedo/rear diff/A/C clutch ect... I really need HELP Thanks
