Default Is a greasable axle joint better than non servicable?

4wd is growling,so Im getting ready to do bearings and u joints.Seems to me a greasable u joint would be a great advantage, other than being weaker than a solid joint. Can anyone chime in with what works best or if it makes any difference at all which one I use?I searched the forums but nothing seems to indicate the best choice for long term.Im not a off roader, just tryin to get to work from snowed up Virginia without my wheel falling off. Thanks

My dad bought a polaris ranger utv last week and the guy in the service dept said most of the joints and bearings had no grease fittings from the factory..... But all the factory polaris replacement parts do...that should tell you something..(good ole made in usa polaris). factory parts many times are made to be as cheap yet functional as possible (sometimes they even want them to fail as long as the warranty is up)...grease fittings are always better as far as I can see? how does it make anything any weaker?

holes drilled in cross for lube passages make it weaker.solid joint has no holes.seems like a grease fitting on each cap would be money, but what do I know?the joints are 10 years old,so they are durable.spicer 760 is supposed to be real tough, but I cant see where I would need it. the what size tires are those on your truck auggie?I need to go way up from 265's.Yours look pretty good. How far do they stick out?

mine are 35"...they didnt stick out at all with 9" wide rims and 5" backspacing...I went to a 10" rim with 4" backspacing so they do stick out 2 or 3" now...(rims were used from a friend and cheap)

In all my years of Jeeping I've never greased a U-joint ever. In fact, depending on the location of the grease fitting, the hole required for the fitting can make the body of the joint weaker.

I was told if you like to go mudding then go with the ones you can grease so you can get all the water out.

there are alot of people who never get there oil changed and just add oil too...whats your point...doesnt mean its better..I did grease mine and only replace them once right after I got the jeep... never replaced them in 11 years...
