shackle lift it. It's easier and safer. Cost the same. Ebay shackle lift. Theres DIY links throughout google. If you got a jack, and a BFH (big Fing hammer) you can do it.
ditto.... 2" shackle lift is a better idea dont have the axle wrap to worry about...never used one on a ram yet but used them on my jeep and they worked well.... I dont see how the ones previouly posted could be so bad....

ah, i see the problem you speak of....what about flipping the hanger?
You would need a very long shackle in that case then. There is a company out there that makes a flipped shackle for these trucks. BDS I think it is. I think it uses the factory shackles as well.
So If I buy the shorter shackles from ebay Ill need something else then?? If I needed something else would it just be more worth my money to get AAL's or blocks?

I wouldn't use those shackles at all. They will literally destroy your leaf springs over time. Dakota, compress the rear suspension all the way and you will see what I am talking about.
I havent had time to go out and look at my truck but wut do you mean by build a new hanger? I work in a machine shop so building something is no problem I just dont understand what your telling me to build?
