Just wondering if you use 4WD more in the winter.I do,just a little bit and it uses way more fuel in 4WD.

The first factor is winter blend gas gets worse mpg.

Second factor is the PCM runs a richer mix until the truck gets to temperature, so it's burning more gas longer.

what size tires and what gears? what is your rpms at 70mph? do you have the 5.2 or 5.9? larger than stock tires and stock gearing will make the truck a dog and you'll be dumping a lot of unburned fuel trying to get out of the hole (accelerating) with your foot on the pedel since it would be less responsive.

cold weather will affect your mpg slightly, your diff fluids and suck are colder than hell and remain thicker than in the summer = more rolling resistance.

Actually I do a LOT more 4WD in the summer time on back country trails, etc. In the winter if 4WD is required because of snow I usually take my jeep wrangler.....

That could certainly contribute to low MPG...... Thanks

BTW, re: your Avatar..... Is that your protecting your Dodge Ram?

I get at best, about 13 or 14 highway in the summer and usually not even that good. city driving it's more like 10 (or worse now that the weather is colder).
I'd LOVE to get 16 or 18 highway.
