Amen. I hear that! After working on both Chevy and Dodge trucks (and despite owning a Dodge) I too have to go with the flow here and go with the GM product. In my opinion, I think the engineering is a little better / smarter.

My next truck is going to be a Chevy with a diesel. I just spoke to a guy about his. He's getting 22MPG-26MPG out of his and after tuning it with EFI live, his HP and torque went up from 330 HP up to 555HP / 1100 ft lbs of torque just by simply tuning it. No mods / 100% stock and no tranny issues as one would may find with Ford and Dodge.

Yeah, I agree 100%. That's why I still have mine. I love the looks. Chevy looks terrible to me. Someone at Chevy needs to hire on some new graphic designers to overhaul their trucks.

I vote chevy also.Only because I used my friends 2000 and it was great at towing.I havent towed anything with weight on it with my 2001 2500 but I really didnt buy it for towing anything heavy.
Think if you asked over at the chevy forum you will get them telling you to buy a dodge?

no....only because I owned a couple chevys prior to this dodge..(still have one) although I had a jeep that was one of the most reliable vehicles i ever owned till it rotted apart... so I dont think its so much a dodge vs chevy thing but more of a comparision between the 2000 chevy and 98 ram ...

chevy all the way for towing, unless your dodge has a cummins in it.

The 5.9l is rated at 245hp and 335ftlbs. of torque. I also would be scared getting a dodge for towing with there bad history of tranny problems
yes dodge does have trans problems but if you get the 6spd you wont have any problems..the cummins will last longer than the duramax under presure

if the chevy has the allison go for it but it has less miles on it and a great tranny but if it dosn't then its pretty much up to you if you like the look of one over the other or how one rides over the other the chevy well ride better than the dodge but the dodge well haul more.

Allisons are waaayyyy over rated, shure their better than the 48re but if you put a good torque converter and a shift kit in the 48 it will hold more power than the allison with the same mods, the only allison i would get would be one from a trash truck or semi, now heres the reason for my insanity http://www.dieselpowermag.com/featur..._hd/index.html and i personally know someone that went through 3 allison 1000 in a matter of a month on a ppe mpg tune, but of course a 6.0 will not usually see 5 or 600 hp

I personally would NEVER buy a chebby...b/c the independent front end (i use 4x4 very hard at work) and b/c the Duracrap has alumiunm heads=bad things on a hard worked diesel (two different metals have different expansion and contraction rates...hmm that sounds familar lol) that and their just butt ugly

I would buy a Ford...i like the '99 to '04 body style almost as much as the second gen RAM. Only way I would consider is if it had the 7.3 (just as bullet proof as the 5.9 cummins) plus all 3/4 and 1 ton superdutys have a solid front axle

I wouldn't even think twice about buying another dodge (cummins power, solid axle and sexy as hell)
