hey guys, i finlly got my truck... like i phyiscly have it, and am fixing the little things on it that my dad didnt car to do...

one of the big ones i have to do, but i have to figure out what i need first... ok front axle, its the dana 60 out of the 2500 ram... passengers side leaks.. lol, there is gear oil dripping out of where the axle shaft comes out of... what could that be? is there an outter axle seal on these axles? or is it just inside the pumpkin, or what?

inside of the pumpkin there is a seal IIRC for the pass. side

i have 1500 with 4.10 gears up front, and i have a DS leaking seal, and i know the setup is i have to take out the CAD housing, carrier, then on the inside of my pumpkin i have the seals for each side.

On the dana 44 there is ONLY inner seals. No outer seals. All of the mud and water goes down the tubes.

Not sure if this well help Meanwhitemopar or not but oh well. http://www.pavementsucks.com/tech-article-3.html

it sounds like the seal between the cad housing and the axle shaft is leaking.
Probably happened when the axle shaft was pulled to do the balljoints

Here's a shot looking down the tube, the green ring is the outer edge of the seal

I don't know what it's name is others might, i'd say it's the front axle shaft seal.

the 60
go to the site
punch in the year/make/model
click front drive axle
front axle etc...
they have the 44 and the 60 listed under axle seals both have breakdowns and both have part 12 as axle seal
