Default Dash illumination 95 ram

Hey everyone

I was out for a drive today, and out of nowhere I heard a click, and the dash lights stopped working! I checked the illum. fuse on the side of the dash, replaced it with another, and still nothing. Is there one under the hood for this? Do I need a new dimmer/headlight switch?

Check all the fuses, and there might be one under the hood, take the panel off and see. Also, does your truck have an alarm? Could be an inline fuse.

No alarm on my truck.

I just took it out again, and noticed the parking lights ( or running lights), front and rear, aren't working either. The headlights still work though.

If your radio is not working try the IOD fuse

Radio works!

I had the truck in for an ignition switch recall a couple months back, so I dunno if it would be that.

So I just went outside and found a blown 15A park lamp fuse... #18 IIRC.

I replaced it, pulled the headlight switch out to park position, and it blew instantly.

bah.

Sounds like youve got a couple of shorted out wires, Now you get to take the dash all apart! whoo hoo.

bah.
I had the same problem turned out to be a shorted wire to rear parking lights, a shorted parking bulb can do the same thing

Nice! Well I picked up a new headlight switch just to be safe.

I also just discovered that when I'm pulling the **** out, if I slowly wiggle it just before the parking light position, I can manage to get the dash lights AND parking lights on, except the rears... lol.

Oh well, I'll give you an update later on tonight on what I find!
