piston in and out

Would i be able to take a piston out through the bottom and put it back in through the bottom?

IMO you'd have an easier time doing it up top...aside from re-doing the head gasket

i just installed the head and started the truck, i still have smoke but i believe it is water. Will the head gasket take a little while for it to adjust or i did it wrong?

I did everyhting by the book Torque etc...
