Advice please, Transmission went out on New Years Eve! Happy New Year

I have been using re-manufactured Tcs for $150 from a local Transmission shop. I would suppose you could find them around you in that price range. If you can afford to get something better then a re-man go for it.. Find out what kind of warranty you get with what you purchase and go from there. I have had no issues using the re-manufactured units.

please excuse me for hijacking your thread I'm in the exact same boat only mine went completely out this past saturday upon dropping the trans pan a rebuild is immenent. Again I apologize for this but what is the most suggested rebuild kit on here I dont really have much time to search through this entire forum to find that answer and if any other advice you have to give while I am rebuilding such as Shift kit? should I put one in, I already have an aftermarket cooler with my rad. being bypassed is this good or bad I live in ohio. One more thing The tranny has been repalced before I did not know this at time of purchase but it has a jasper transmission are they actually worth rebuilding or should I buy a junker and rebuild it?

crankbait, no hi-jack, its not like your asking about what kind of tire to buy. Jasper may be same place that does reman engines, pretty sure on it being a rebuild Candide shouldn't matter unless case is cracked or seized some way, pm me to contact, I can give you the condensed version on what I found and what I would do now if I had more funds

Just to update, I've been stalling on what to do because of money but as I keep checking around for low prices, deals and just educating myself more on auto trans stuff I should feel better with whatever I end up doing "funny how tight economic times change how you do things so dramatically"
A few of the local rebuild shops I called kept telling me that the 2500 trans is a HD version of the 46re (more clutches, hd internal parts, different TC etc., they know I have a gas V8, but I think they are confusing it with an auto behind a V10 or diesel ?? anyways, I called the ebay place with the master rebuild kit mentioned above (its a NC dealer and there price for kit is low compared to my local dealers) Luke over there is the parts guy, he looked up my VIN and confirmed what I have and told me that there is a (rare I guess) HD version of the 46re that dealers put in for replacement or rebuild?? not 100% sure I understood that part..
I found one shop who will rebuild mine for $900 (I do the R&R out of truck), includes: reman. TC, overhaul kit with std clutches (+ $100 for kevlar), comes out to about $300 labor compared to if I were to DIY and buy the same rebuild parts myself plus he gives a 12 month warranty, he says its a wholesale price, and he has good used parts available that he will include no charge if he finds any broken/non rebuild able components during tear down, he offered for me to be there during the tear down, shop only been around for a few years (he has 30 years) no bad BBB etc. google results, its tempting, the warranty is fair as long as the place is still around!
*as much as i want to take a stab a rebuilding an auto trans, I don't think this is the time or the one I should experiment alone on, although i'm waiting on some call backs on local help **anyone in the N.E. valley of phoenix?
btw. I looked carefully at the trans cooler lines at rad. and found it has a nice size factory external cooler in addition to the in rad. cooler (it hides really well between rad and condenser)

Edit:*****WARNING, on 1 Stop Transmission, after more research I found this place has a questionable past and a lot of "Rip Off" reports under there previous names, they change there name every year or so to avoid the bad rep, but tracked there history and its not good!. (they are on ebay and located in Peoria AZ)

I just found this on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge...item3ef9261098
1stoptransmissions, they are in Phoenix area (local) $750 w/o torque converter, 24 month warranty, I need to talk to them still and find if any fine print or other catches on war. etc. this sound like a good deal if I can get a good reman. TC at a fair price

I'm 80% sure I will go with the 1Stop Transmission place near me for a reman. (they are on ebay), they have a good rep., nice 2 year war., use up to date quality rebuild parts (as much as they can and keep them affordable without going to a performance rebuild) and they build to your specs after deposit and dyno test it afterwords
*I will be doing a auto trans rebuild or at least exploratory look into a spare AW4 XJ Cherokee trans within a year or so, I run one of these in my TJ crawler thats converted to manual shifting and TC lock-up
