That's the way a limited slip is supposed to work. It isn't a locker or posi. Clutch actuation happens when one wheel starts to spin and exerts pressure on the clutch pack causing it to engage and apply traction to both wheels. Power braking can often accelerate this action.
Everything I read about it states that posi was just slang for chevys "positraction " the chevy term for Limited slip differential and ford had yet its own name for the same thing.... they all have limited slip capability to prevent hopping on turns....I googled it and read like 8 articles and forum threads on it at the time..
Yea I have to stop by autozone and get fluid and a gasket, its leaking thats why im even messing with it, hopefully no parts sitting in the bottom of differential
your lucky...my 96 did and we have the older more expensive lsd to rebuild....the kits like $300 from the dealership...
What is that addtive called? I need to pick some up today for mine.
Limited slip differential fluid additive.

Last time I checked at my local NAPA, Royal Purple 75W-140 gear fluid was $17/quart. Compare that to Mobil 1 which costs $10/quart. I would be spending (for 3 quarts; truck takes 2.6) $51 plus the cost of gaskets vs. $30 for the Mobil 1. Prices of oils differ from parts stores and your region. But we can save that for another thread, this one is about LSD additives.
