Looking at buying a cummins. Any help
Yeah thanks for the info. And sorry Im so used to coming on here and going right to second gen I didnt even realize there was a cummins forum. But I found it now and Its in wisconsin just to let you know. And im pretty sure that im gonna pass on it anyways the guy sent me some more pics and the whole passenger side is rotting away doors rockers and fenders.
try to find one from the south and the body will be in much better shape.
a good one will cost you, i'd expect 5-6-7 thousand, and don't be surprised if its got 200-300-400k miles. unlike a gasser, these are built to haul and thats what people do with them. if you do run up on a low mileage one, grab it.
as far as money pits, my brother in law has a CTD cab and chassis and he's pretty hard on it. he's not one to work on it much himself and has to take it to a shop for service and repair. about once or twice a year it lays down for some reason or another and its NEVER less than a 1000 bucks for the repair. everything on it from engine to transmission to t-case to axle is just big and heavy and EXPENSIVE.

You get a lot better mileage though as well..It evens out to say the least.
And if you're towing, that mileage will be kept.. The cummins wont even know its back there

i was just commenting how active the diesel secton used to be, with a poll that had 474 votes. its not as active now, with only 5 posts all day today.
sometime in 06 or 07 the forum hardware/software suffered a meltdown. during that time a lot of people gave up and left.
then in another event, the diesel folks had a big falling out and a lot of them left.
