Default Starter wont stop turning

I went to leave school about an hour ago, and after I started my truck, I noticed the starter was still cranking. I turned off the key, and the motor shut off but the starter was still cranking, I had to pull the battery cable to kil it. I noticed that even with the key out, If I just touch the cable back to the terminal, the starter starts cranking and doesnt quit. I just tried to search the forums, and found a thread with the same problem, but it didnt have any replies. The guy mentioned he replaced the starter, but within 1 day it was doing it again. Im hoping to get some responses tonight before I go buy a new starter tomorrow morning. Thanks

if the starter relay was bad then it would cause that.
then again, it could be a bad starter or ignition switch too.

look at your starter relay and see if it is the same as the horn or fog lights. i believe it is, and if so then you can put your horn or fog light relay in place of the starter relay and see if the starter will disengage. if it does then you'll need a new relay for the lights or horn.
forgot to add that the relays are in the pdc behind the battery.

that means that the solenoid was stuck and its time for a new starter. my dad had to get under his 55 chevy and smack the starter every time he started it because the solenoid would stick.

replace the Starter and the solonoid at the same time otherwise you will keep have the same problem... i also had this problem with a ford starter was drawing too much current and melting the solonoids... even one out of a tractor!!
