Default Can I do this????

Ok I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. It has the stock 16 steel wheel on it. My understanding and measuring says they are 5on5.5. I bought a set of 17x10 Weld Wheels they are 5on5.5. I have measured every which way but for some reason they will not go on the truck. I can get the center of each stud lined up with the holes but they will not go over the threads of the lugs. I mean they are off by like 3mm.

I really like these wheels but they will not on, my question is will it screw anything up I enlarge the bolt holes by a small amount to get them on. I got a decent deal on them and really don't want to have to try and sell them to buy more I just paid to have tires mounted on them.

If anyone can shed light on this or give me an idea it would be appreciated. Also I have tried more than one of the Weld wheels and on more than one wheel of the truck I am at a loss.

They are a 17x10 1 piece Weld Racing Rim that came off a Bronco that is what I don't get I can't imagine Dodge Lugs are that much bigger than a bronco but maybe.

If it's just that the holes are too small then it should be no problem to drill them bigger so long as the centers of the holes are lined up with the centers of the studs.

just send them to a machine shop and they can open the holes up for you. You will probably need new lug nuts to accomodate the larger hole.

the rams did change lug sizes but I believe that was the 02 model but not to say that someone did not change them on yours.

our studs are 1/2-20, so measure the holes on the rims to see if they're about 9/16" and the studs are 1/2" in diameter.

I appreciate all the input guys I like getting the different views. Here is what I decided, if the rims don't fit, don't put them on. I know there are ways I might be able to "make" them fit and there are certain areas I will do that, it is what makes modifiying trucks fun. But the only things holding me to the ground isn't one where I am going to take a short cut. I will sell these and get my money back they are awsome rims, I will order some or get some more off craigslist that are made for this truck just the right thing to do.
