Default Same Ol' Tranny Issue

I've read almost every post on here with the word tranny in it.

I've been my tranny go into the typical limp mode. It won't shift out of 2nd gear after the tranny warms up.

It was doing this some time ago and I had a tranny guy change out the governor and pressure solenoids and install a shift kit. He told me the tranny looked healthy. Anyway, it's doing it again, check engine is on, same code about the solenoid. Whne the tranny is cold the truck shifts like new. When i clear the code it shifts like new but after a while the light comes back on and it won't shift out of 2nd unless if I floor it or shift it into neutral and from then on it'll shift fine until I come to a complete stop.

I took it to another shop and they couldn't find anything wrong with it until it went into limp mode and they automatically told me rebuild. I find it hard to believe that it needs a rebuild because it shifts great when it doen't go into limp mode but what do I know.

I'm also not sure what kind of tranny fluid the guy put in it.

Either way, if I do need a rebuild, can I just drive it like I am until it gives or should I do it so I don't mess other things up? Or should I try to flush the fluid and put in ATF 4+, new filter, clean the solenoids and go from there?

Thanks!!
