I wouldn't,they're a PITA to get to,and get out.Prolly destroy them getting them out and have to get new one's.Putting them back in would be a nightmare.I don't know if it's possible. It's usually an engine stand procedure.Just flush it out real good and use a quality coolant(I use Prestone) and distilled water.

i would (did). they're on each side and behind the motor mounts. little FRAGILE looking hex heads about 9/16 or so. mine were real tight and wanted to round off. a good pair of vise grips took them out easy. when you put them back in, use some teflon or rtv and don't over tighten. all they do is hold in coolant at low psi.

i just wanted to make sure i wouldnt get coolant flowing every where when i take off the plenum. dont want to get it down in the cylinders. i did drain the radiator. i dont think i want to mess with the block plugs unless its absolutely necessary. thanks guys for the quick replies.

you'll want to remove the bottom radiator hose which will drain the radiator, the top end (intake and heads) and about 1/2 - 2/3 of the block. that'll be sufficient to keep the coolant out of the lifter valley. its not required to completely drain the block.

if you were to not drop the bottom hose or water pump or radiator plug, you'd have a coolant spill from the intake and heads.

after you're done, i'd still change the oil just in case.

Ive heard you can take the top hose off and crank the truck and it will suck the water out of the block, possibly start it if you got the rad drained.

ok thanks. im glad i stopped for the night. i didnt start unbolting the plenum yet. i have another question though. is there a trick to get these damn fuel injectors/fuel rail off? these things wont come out for nothing. i tried to disconnect the injectors from the rails and pull the rails off but they still dont want to come off. am i missing something?

no need to remove the injectors from the intake.
disconnect the fuel line from the rail at the quick disconnect. size=3/8.
leave the rail on the intake with the injectors still in them.
