The 01 has a filter/regulator combo at the bottom of the fuel pump module

You are correct, they all are like that. Except it's on the top of the fuel pump assy.

Do those have an ignition control module under the cap? I know that old Chevys were notorious for the ICM (when bad) to stall the vehicle at running temp.
