Default heat not getting warm

so my new truck will not blow warm air. where i live right now its 19 out, so its deff not warm but my buddy has a 95 dodge and his gets real warm. i read that didge didnt make a very good heater core? could this be the problem? my temp gauge reads half way between 130 and 210. does that sound right for temp?

thanks

No,that's 170 degrees F if your gauge is correct that is too cold. Most with stock T-stats run about 200F.

a simple fix sometimes... pull the lines off the heater core and backflush with a garden hose, maybe even run some collant flush in the system a few days before you do it, they tend to get pluged up with **** coming from the engine and cooling system

Beef up your anti-freeze ratio.

Just a thought about the heat issue. Does the truck run right now? If so, feel both of the heater core hoses while the truck is running. Both should be hot and difficult to touch. And you should not be able to collapse (push the hose together) while its running. If either hose is not hot to the touch or you can collapse the hose, your heater core may be plugged. I just replaced mine this week because the heater barley put out any heat. Just something you might try.

well i havent done anything to my heater core yet cause its 90 below and i dont feel like workin outside. and also, it was 21 out and my heat got warm. before it was -9. does that have anything to do with it?(other than the fact that the air coming in is warmer?)

this is on my list of things to do too. i backflushed the core about 3 years ago and it was a good temporary fix. but last year the heat was only fair and this years its gone from bad to worse. its finally above 30 here, but i'm waiting for a little warmer.

i might try the prestone flush. see what a little chemical action does. my luck it'll probably eat the damn heater core...

Yep this is what I'd try. Was the problem with mine. I had a shop do it though and he said he had to used compressed air in addition to water.
