Default Bad rotor and brake pad before change.

I don't think I ever posted these. I went to change my front brakes and driver side rotor and this is how I found my front driver side rotor and pad.... fun fun!

That would make an awesome clock! Good idea!! And I had 3 other good brakes. The other rotor was fine, and pads needed to be replaced, but were not down to the metal. I also had to re-seat the cylinders on the brake caliper. It didn't sound pretty, but it did still manage to stop. lol

Those must be the earlier version of today's slotted rotors

at first i was wondering what kind of rotor that was. then i clicked on the second picture and realized that the entire braking surface was missing. its a good thing they both weren't like that.

You were very lucky. If your piston come out of the caliper you would have been in a world of trouble. That must have been grinding for a while. How was the other side? You probably should have rebuilt/replaced your calipers.

I am guessing that happened because the slides on the caliper became stuck not allowing the piston to move back in freely.
