Its the daylight running module. It turns on your high beam at 50% power once you turn on the ign and your parking brake is off. If this burns out and your truck has abs it will trun on the abs light as it burned out in mine, $130 big ones.

the two red wires in the picture are two different wires that were cut from the harness that plugs into the daylight module. A red/gray and red/pink connected together and sealed with heatshrink.

I'm baffled? How many prongs are there on the module, 6 or 4?

there are 7 wires

green/white
white/green
brown/green
purple/white
red/gray
red/pink
black

I think the daytimes were only common (on all vehicles) in Canada in the 90's, his 2nd gen probably was from across the border.

Because some people, like me, don't want our headlights on when they aren't needed. I'm guessing the previous owner bypassed that box so that the lights only come on by the switch.
