Default What grade gas do you guys use?

Just sippin' my second cup of coffee and wondering what grade gasoline you guys use in 2nd Gen Rams.

I've always used regular in my '97 5.9L Ram, my jeep wrangler and my wife's Toyota. As a matter of fact I can't remember putting a medium or premium grade gas any any vehicle for a couple of decades now.

I just went back to look at my log books for my Ram. For whatever reason I'm written down the gallons I put in the truck at every gas stop. It seems though the years I've averaged around 16 MPG. I never saw less than 14 MPG... and on several tankfuls years ago I reached up to around 23 MPG. The only thing I can think of in this case is that I must have had a heck of a tailwind...lol...

Have a good day......

If it runs well on reg. you don't need 91

I also run 87 octane. It seems to be fine. I pulled the heads a few months ago and barely any carbon buildup. Every once and a while run "seafoam" through it. I hear ya on the tailwind. I averaged about 11mpg to Illinois and 17mpg back to michigan.

I used 87.. However there was a slight pinging at the top end of the RPMs sometimes, and I think it was the tuner the PO put on..So out of curiousity I put in 91 once and it seemed to run significantly better and you couldn't hear it ping.

But since I don't race it, 87
