Default Trans pan gasket leak, Fluid level HALF way up the ok mark...

Recently ive found i have a SLOW trans pan gasket leak. I havent yet checked to see if its just some bolts that need tightening or not. Plan on doing that tomorrow when i have the time. My trans fluid looks and smells clean and like it should. The trans fluid level is half way in the OK area. Although it says its OK. I want to fill it to the max mark. How much fluid exactly does it take to do so? Truck shifts awesome... No prob. Just need to get the leak solved tho.

i can tell you this, i blew my trans line a few weeks ago (3 times) and each time, no fluid ended up on the stick so alot drained out, and it only takes 5-6 quarts to fill it, but i bet there was still some in the pan.

+1 bring your truck up to operating temp first, then just start adding till it rises up like anyone else would have to do. I'd say pour in 1/2 a quart and start from there. Check your gasket first though because it would be a shame to fill it all the way only to have to drop the pan to replace the gasket.

The Crosshatch area on the dipstick = 1 pint(1/2 qt.) from the ADD mark to the FULL

It was the pan bolts..

Thanks for the help everyone.

Oh yea, I knew how to check the trans fluid...Just needed to know how much i needed to fill it to the max mark. I guess it needs 1/4 of a quart since it only takes 1/2 to cover the whole OK area.
