Default 96 Ram transmission question

I found a 96 King cab 4x4 with a 318... that I can buy for $2000. The truck shows 150K miles, but the transmission doesn't shift. If you shift it manually it seems to do OK.

The guy said he had it hooked up to a computer that said "all the transmission sensors" are bad.

What all sensors would that be? How hard are they to get to?

If he's not being honest about the sensors, what else would cause that?

Thanks in advance

It's probably going to end up a $4000 truck.

Agreed. If you plan to buy it, plan to put in a new/rebuild tranny.

This must be your first Dodge. We don't have "King cabs" in 2nd gen Rams, they are either extended cab (sometimes called club cab) or quad cab. I think Nissan calls their junk "King cab".

You're correct my friend!

Don't think this will be my first dodge though, I think I'll let him keep it.
