Question removing the air conditioning pump

was wondering what the benefits of removing the A/C pump on my 1997 dodge ram would be as it no longer works anymore. is it worth it?

There really are no benefits. W/O being clutched on, it is not taking any power off your motor.

are the bearings seized? cuz that will create some strain, and since some rams come without a/c it wont be a problem getting a belt, so all in all its up to you, but what are you going to do with the lines?

I can't do without mine. I'd have to buy another truck if it couldn't be fixed.lol

any a/c unit can be fixed pretty easily IMO aside from depressurizing/recharging...

its not as easy as getting a non ac belt, the non ac trucks had a pulley in place of the compressor, but you can measure and get a shorter belt that will work without the compressor or delete pulley

If I'm not mistaken, I think they have the pulley's at Rock Auto.

they do. i have one. it works pretty good and has been for almost a year now. just make sure that if you decide to get it, make sure you get washers to go with it, because when you go to tighten the bolts, the bolt heads will dig into the bracket itself pretty deep.
