Stalling
For the first time today while waiting in line to pick up my daughter from 3rd grade the truck stalled twice while idling. This never happened before so what could it be.
Also what happens if truck stalls while driving, what to do? Does the stering lock and brakes freeze? What should be done to prevent an acccident?
Thanks to all,
KJK

The steering will not lock, nor will the brakes freeze. They will be much harder to turn or push. The parking brake is a manual rear brake that will stop you in an emergency,(I test this out every so often) thou you may have to push very hard on it. You can also put the gear shift lever to N and try to restart the engine.

Thanks everyone.
Was worried because its so damn hard to turn when stalled. Guess I'll give it something extra since there is no worry of it breaking.
Really appreciate your help. KJK

could be the fuel pump starting to go, cycle the key and listen to hear if the fuel pump kicks right on every time...
if it stalls, just keep the ignition to on, and nothing will lock up as stated above. and again like stated above, put right into neutral to try to restart

ying, do you have a check engine light on. if so you need to read the codes and see what the pcm already knows.
if no codes, try to drive with both feet, use left for brake and right for gas and whenever you're about to drop to idle, give it just a hint of gas pedal. if you can keep it running with a little gas pressure, its probably IAC or TPS. i'd replace IAC first and if that doesn't do it, then TPS. when you replace IAC, remove the old one and stick a small screwdriver down in the well and make sure the little hole at the bottom is open. its about 1/8" diameter. don't damage it, just make sure its open.
if you have code P0123, replace TPS.

Just got news from dealer problems stalling and it's going to cost $350 to fix. Of course lother problems were found and will also be fixed. When I get paperwork I'll post details as mechanic found numerous things needing fixing. They said the problem stems from not maintaining proper checkups. Wow I love talking with the girl in the dealership because she is so on top of things when it comesw to my truck. She assured me it will be like new when all is finished Monday.
