I hope this doesn't sound to dumb but are you saying to disconnect from the battery and hold in the "on" position or actually over trying to "start" the engine..... thanks

Basicly disconnect the negitive cable from the battery an turn your key on, dont try and start the engine, just turn on the key to where the radio and lights "usually" comes on if the battery cables were connected. doing this will drain the power from the computer and force it to restart which will force it to completely refresh the data

Good to know about turnin the key on to drain it, I've never done that. I usually just leave it unhooked for a few mins

Maxx.... The Chilton book says it only works on the '97 Ram. But I couldn't get it to work on mine.

Good morning guys.... Let me throw out this one.

Since I can't get the code by doing the ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON sequence could that mean that the PCM no longer detects the P0441 fault... and therefore there is not a code to display?

(If that's the case I wish the PCM would cut me some slack and turn the darn Engine Check light off...... lolol)

Thanks
Jason

That's good. Obviously the Chilton book is incorrect. I just wonder why I can't get the code..... unless the fault has been corrected with the new gas cap.

I'm sort of torn between disconnecting the neg cable to shut off the engine check light or to wait and see if the PCM will do that after so many "cycles". (The Chilton book says is takes 40 or so cycles to do that). My truck runs great.... It's just that the light really annoys me.
