taking the carrier out is easy. its putting it back in that is a bit of a pain because those bearing races are a really tight fit. then again, it would probably be a lot easier on a lift. i was laying on my side with the differential pretty close to the ground when i did it, so it was a bit of a pain due to the odd angle.

doubt it. the bearings go in the same place in the differential housing on the 3.92 and down carriers as well as the 4.10 and up carriers.

i'd say it weighs somewhere around 20-25lbs. i hooked a come along to a small chain that was wrapped around the carrier up against the ring gear (center point). then the other end of the come along was hooked to the hitch on my dads truck that was lined up with the differential. then i had him slowly crank the come along and i was under the truck with an old pair of jeans as padding for my hands to catch it (the ring gear is sharp). after the bearings came out, the carrier rested on the inside of the housing instead of flying out like i thought it would.

i have a handful of pictures from my axle seal replacement job also.

here's my breaker/cheater/penetrating fluid combo that took minimal effort to get the hub nut off.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....lol the pass. side seal started leaking last night.... so now both seals are gone

good thing im changing out a rear end in a dakota (already got the old one out) an im gettin paid 500-600 to do it, cuz i think one of my axle shafts are bent. when it spins, i has one point where it shifts slightly like a very smll bend...could this be why i still get a hop when going to the left? the hop isnt bad at all anymore, but its still there

If it wasn't leaking before your repairs, I'd say your axle is not bent.
