Unhappy 1994 dodge ram transmission problem

I bought a 1994 Dodge Ram 4x4 with the 5.9L with 122k miles. I bought the truck knowing the transmission didnt have reverse, its a project truck. It slipped a little bit into first but went through all the other gears fine. Now that ive had it a while, Ive noticed if you gun on the engine really hard when driving the CEL will come on and the truck will not engage into first again until you rev past 2.5k RPMs and let off and it engages really bad but then it will go through the other gears. If you turn the truck off for about 20mins and restart it the CEL will be gone and the truck shifts as good as it did before. 4 wheel drive happens the same way. Im wondering if the truck goes into some kind of limp mode or something because of the CEL? The trans fluid level is good but its burnt. I plan on changing the fluid and filter and trying some seafoam trans tune on it when i get to go back home from college. Any help is appreciated.

You need to have the tranny rebuilt and a new TC. Replace the freeze plugs on the rear of the motor(with brass ones) when you have the tranny out.

just an FYI. there are many problems with the 46re trannys. typically if your original tranny akes it to 150K you're lucky....Ive seen eople need rebuilds on the tranny at 70K. So it all varies.

(is it the same for 46rh? typically a weak tranny? because thats what i have)

Most of the time, it depends on how they are treated, as to how long they last!!

I kinda figured as much. I might as well just part it out or enter it in an enduro race or something. I only paid $600 for it
