I need some help... recently bought another dodge and the guy who had it before me put a straight exhuast on it of course i failed inspection for not having a muffler... i tried to look for a diagram but couldnt find one... i need some info on how to install it and if a high performance glass packed muffler would do the trick... any suggestions?

Welcome to DF!

You can install any muffler you want, as long as the pipe diameters match up (or you can use adapters, but its much easier with properly sized pipes) and you have a welder. (Or you can have a shop do the labor for a little more $$$.)

Do it after the 2nd O2 sensor and before the end of the pipe and you'll be fine.

BTW, just for future reference, you should create a signature in your User CP that spells out the details of your truck, like model year, 1500/2500/3500, engine, 4x4 or 4x2, gears, etc. etc. Or put in a link to a CarDomain page or equivalent with that info, like mine.

Glass packs wont pass in most states that have inspections because it doesnt damper the sound like a normal performance muffler, such as Cherrybomb or flowmaster. I would consider just putting on a cheap $40 muffler that will match your pipe's and just take it in for inspection and once you pass, take them off. I have alot of friends that live in cali and they do the same thing.

Theres no way the I.D. and O.D. are the same size, just measure the O.D. of your stock pipe and buy that size muffler with the same I.D. And I would recommend welding the muffler on, unless your just going to take it back off after inspection. I'm just running a $40 cherrybomb turbo and I actually really like the sound it gave me.
