terra grapplers
so im putting new tires on my 98 ram 1500 sport 5.2 and i like the nitto terra grapplers. i wanna go from a 265/75/16 to a 285/75/16.. has anyone had any issues with rubbing? any other tires you would recomend? thanks
Those are pretty nice tires, you should like them. As far as fitting them, you SHOULD be OK even if you don't have a lift, but some report that they have experienced rubbing on the control arms with 285's (I don't with mine).
Also, if you have 3.55 gears, you will most experience a fair amount of power loss. It wont be unbearable, but definitely noticeable.

looks like a pretty good all terrain tire. where are you? boston? it might not be the best off road mud or snow tire, but it depends on what you want.
here's a favorable review.

you should be fine on fit. my Cooper AT 285's don't rub.

thanks for the welcome guys, and about the power loss... my 318 is already a bit of a dog, all i have is an AFE CAI but im gonna do flowmaster exhaust, a TB spacer and eliminate those walls around the butterfly valves in the TB so im hoping to get more power from all that, i do have 3:55s is it all 285 tires im gonna experience power loss? any bigger size than the 265s that i wont loose power? thanks
I have a 360 with nitto grapplers 295's and 3.92 gears, and they are great tires best I have ever used, they stick like no other day in the rain and snow and ice. But I can brake them loose if I want. Great tires overall! You wont be disappointed

Most of the guys in the diesel industry will swear by Nitto and the tires they make. I haven't had a personal experience with them but most go for the Terra Grapplers. Those who have a tow rig like the Dura Grappler. I wonder about the new Trail Grappler myself.
im running yokahoma's on my 1500 right now and i have a set of nitto's on my D150 and so far they've held up great, iv got over 25k miles on them and as far as i know they'er still holding on considering i havent driven the d150 in 6 months since it's 2k miles away in florida
