be sure the engine is real clean before you start, helps to prevent stuff falling down. Also, take lots of pictures before and as you start. Helps to put things back together.

Get a foam pad to kneel on while under the hood, save your knees.

tips: take the fan and shroud off so you can stand in the engine compartment and save your knees from locking up due to all the leaning over the fenders.
penetrating fluid makes life easier.

trick: pull the intake/accessory bracket off and all the bolts out of the heads, then pull all the spark plugs. remove the hood. then fill each cylinder to the rim with gunpowder and put equal lengths of detonation cord into the gunpowder (long pieces). light, run behind a home made lexan blast shield and enjoy the show.

sometimes the heads do stick together due to age. so you may have to try a couple times with the gunpowder

in reality, take off valve covers, rr, push rods, springs, spark plugs...and your normal drive accessories.

and when i did my plenum fix, i did take out the fan shround/fan, and stood in the engine compartment(stood on sway bar)...makes things much easier

i put one foot in front of and one foot behind the sway bar with my feet on the ground. i'm too tall to stand on it and be comfortable working on the engine.

also, having some good tunes playing will make it less frustrating.
