I'd rather have a used truck than a new. 9 times outta 10 all the major problems that is known to happen to that model " whatever the model maybe " has already happend and been fixed. Take mine for an example, i bought the truck the tranny had a little over 200 miles on it. with a 30k mile warrenty, and the previous owner had already had to pay to get it replaced. dodge transmissions suck and every one knows that.

And it's something you just come to accept when you buy a used car/truck you're going to have some minimal problems

I dont want this to turn into that kind of thread, but how come a guy who bought his Ram new, drove it 350,000 miles, and maintained his transmission vigiously, when his tranny was re-built, the re-builder said the insides were great. And how come my transmission that was never maintained lasted only 100,000 miles? You do that to a Chevy or a Ford, the same thing will happen.

Lemme rephrase that, the valves and bands in the trannys are defective :P the gear's are fine and 1 outta 10 will make it past 100k miles with no major issues

It's a 96, ***** worn out! The fact that it even runs knocks it out of the lemon category.

the truck was designed for a ten year lifespan expectancy anything over that and 120,000 miles and its done its job according to the engineers that designed it....its hit or miss as far as it being a lemon its whole life or just beat up from being treated/maintained poorly...I was talking with someone last night in a bar that has an 08 cummins powered 3500 and they have had to dump $5,000 into it for repairs already....the kicker is as soon as he had a plow installed on it he found out it voided the warranty??.... exactly what size truck is a plow supposed to be used on if not a 3500??....stupid...Chrysler did the same thing to me when I had a body lift put on my jeep....it voided my drivetrain warranty even though it had nothing to do with it...or the defective cast engine mount they had already redesigned because of high failure rate...
And I call my 96 the money pit for a reason....so far its needed more repairs than any used vehicle I've ever owned (in just the first three months alone!) It could have had a lot to do with PO's IDK...
