u bolts reuse

And while your at it get a flip kit. It might cost a little more, but what the hay.

Instead of the u-bolts hanging down, they point up. The plate and nuts go on top of the leaf springs. That way you don't have those hanging down and catching on stuff.

well now i'm thinking i should change mine. i gobbed some loctite on them and assumed they would be fine since they are so big.

So, one could purchase a newer set of spring brackets/clamps for a 3rd gen and do this... or do you know of someone who makes the kit complete with bolts?

To be honest with ya dsertgog, I a not sure of a manufacturer who sells a flip kit specifically for our dodges, but I am sure one is out there. I have never searched for one.

Although the 3rd gen plates would most likely work, it looks like the u bolts would be too small due to the lack of block under the springs, so obviously separate u-bolts would need to be ordered. I never realized that the 3rd gen half tons lacked a block under the springs (I snagged that pic from some post on the first page of the 3rd gen section, so maybe it was custom).
