if it were me

id put a modded cam, some heads and or rockers, and a good tune on the computer..when going with forced induction you need to prep the motor before hand

usually colder plugs, camshaft, better valves, with either a good set of heads or rockers and a tune before is the best idea..otherwise your gonna fall in love with the forced induction beat the **** out of the truck and break something

IMHO go with the supercharger..supercharged v8's are the best..turbos belong on pulling trucks, diesels, and ricers

thats just my two cents

Yeah, but superchargers are powered by the belt, not the exhaust. Running off the belt is drag on the engine.

Turbos belong on ricers? Ricers are fakes, you are thinking of tuners.

+1 engine prep should be a given, cam's roller's timing set. and i love turbo's on cars, they give a sh!tton of power to 6cyl's, my 2nd gen eclipe's was FAST.

Purp, u gotta realise even though supercharger's are belt driven they dont drag the engine any more than the waterpump or fan would, and the power they'er putting in would replace the power it's robbing by 10 fold.

Turbo's take less to spool but also cause alot of back pressure which cause lag, also they arent as effective unless you have it floored, Now if you want to drive everywhere sittin at 6k rpm's then be my guest.

you are right purpl..it does drive off the belt..but trust me its worth it..sides..take off the mech fan and put on electric and there your just neutralized your problem

the reason i say supercharger..is..it looks cool, sounds better, and also gives more constant power..for every day driving supercharger hands down..the powers right there as soon as you even tap the gas..where as a turbo is better for pulling or when in need of long constant boost..

and your right i mean tuners

im still sticking with supercharger AFTER proper engine mods..cause forced induction on a non modded motor is just asking for trouble..it will last for maybe 1500-5000 miles..

+1 on the above statement

No one said they wouldnt work on a truck, otherwise cummin's and ford wouldnt have them on their superduty's they'er for high rpm application's. Not for consitant power.

:why: diesels are not rpm monsters, I dont completely understand where your going with high rpm applications, My 06 is redlined at 3K rpm's and that not crap for rpm's....

I'm with you on the debate between SCvsTC its been around as long as they have lol

A diesel doesn't need a supercharger as it already has gobs of torque down low, a turbo compliments a diesels top end, which they tend to lack without a turbo.

A supercharger is much more efficient for a gasoline engine, especially a truck. As stated above, it is constant power from 500 RPM to Redline. Where as you don't feel the benefits of a turbo until you get it spooling in the higher RPM range. A 4,500 pound truck is going to require a bit more initial launch then a light foreign jap job on a turbo. Therefor a Supercharger would be a better fit for our pickups with magnum engines, in my opinion.

(Hopefully Indy Ram will chime in on this)

Twin Turbo's are a completely different animal and require way more engine prep before hand. I forget the company's name, could be KRC, but they removed the Stock Weiand supercharger from a 2005 Ford GT supercar and installed twin turbos providing it with 1200+ horsepower. Motortrend, as well as Car and Driver both say it is the fastest accelerating street legal car from 0-180mph.

Turbo. Supercharger is always going to be pushing more air, so more fuel is needed. Turbo you can save gas when needed, but have power when you want it.
