1996 was the beginning of OBDII, so yes.

 

Both the Dodge Rams that I've had were 1996s! They were both made at the same plant, on the same month of the same year, January, 1996!

 

look at the 10th digit of your VIN for your model year code.
R.....1994
S.....1995
T.....1996
V.....1997
W.....1998
X.....1999
Y.....2000
1.....2001

 

anything built in july or later is considered the next year in most cases, look at the 10th digit of the vin, that is your year.

another thing..IIRC isnt 97 when they came out with the round/circle plastic mirrors..

cause i coulda swore
94-96 had the mirrors like what me and josh have..where as if you look at miami son's mirrors
didnt those run from 97-01..i could be wrong on this one though

 

98 was the change not 97. in 1998 the interior and mirrors were the more noticeable updates.

I have had titles wrong before haha. When I had my explorer it said I had an expedition. Soo I was trying to make sure all was correct too.

Btw went out and looked... My Dad's 2002 cummins was built 7 of 2002 So it was built in the same month at the same plant..... different year haha. Same color though=D I wish I had the cummins though...
