Default What year?

What year is my truck? I have always thought I had a 1996. My door says 7/96 so wouldn't that be an early 1997? Or would it be a 1996.5?

June seems too early to be a 1997 model. JMO

You have a 1996.5....

By today's standard with Ford and Chevy rolling models out in March and April, I can see where you would think that, but in our era, model years rolled out in the late summer early fall.

The owners manual will say on the cover which year it is.

I know it will tell me but it could have been swapped too. I just wanted to make sure it was really a 96 and not a 97(doesnt matter just wondered lol)

Actually it does matter.Between OBD 1 and OBD 2.Makes finding scanners and programmers a little easier.

I have OBDII I know that... So will a scanner from a 97 work on my 96?
