Default How do you remove the overhead console?

Like the title says I'm wondering how to remove the overhead console. Last night me and pcfixer were looking at the lights in there. I poped the one lens off and I guess when I poped it back in I messed up the switch. I poped the lens out again and I can stick a screw drive up in there and move the circut board or what ever thats up in behind the switch. I don't see any way to fix it besides yanking the whole console down

Yeah the lenses on the overhead lights are flimsy & easy to break.
Not sure on the 01 but to remove my console on the 96, remove 2 screws from the front (mirror side) & then grab the back sides & pull down gently. Spring clips hold the back side.

If you havent already you can download the 01 service manual from my sites tech page. (or xmas thread) @ 2800 pages though it may take a while to find console removeal

There are two plastic or metal retainers inside the garage door housing that you push and it will release and slide out I believe.

Indy I got that thing a while back. It take me forever to find anything in it. I just get lazy and post hoping someone knows how to do it.

The lens is fine its the switch and the spring or whatever that works the light.

This is all because he mentioned changing them to blue.

Thanks End i'll have to check that out

don't forget when you take the screws out you have to slide the hole thing back and then it well come down if not you well brake the spring clips. i broke one of mine the other day when i took it down to paint black
