Mine is 96 and the cable locking devise is designed differently then what is shown in the link above. It does not come off on mine it is just pushed in from passenger side toward the drive side and held there as you adjust the cable. Then when you have the cable where you want it just release it.
This is also different then what is shown in the manual on this forum that is free for download.

HHMM Just My Ruck.. I'm hoping since the other owner didn't drive it much,maybe a fluid, filter change might help? I've read trans x and such additives don't work? Anyone had any luck in a trans like mine ? Thinking I may try it.

Ok I've read the article above about TP Cable. I didn't see a warning about any Spring Tension On This Cable? Is It Gonna Move when I Unclip It ? I've Driven Enough Now To Know It Will Shift Going Up A Hill With More Throttle Being Applied. I Want To Adjust It For Later, Firmer Shifts, But Don't Want It To Come Unattached If Thats Possible? Or Pull Out If It Has Tension On It.
