Unhappy how do i fix rotor position

the ignition rotor is pointing at cylinder 8 when at TDC on the balancer. (should be at cylinder 1). earlier i took the camshaft out to check it and of course it turn the gears on the distributor while pulling it out.. tried installing it as close as i could to the orignal position. but not close enough. how can i fix this. any easy ways besides trial and error with taking the cam in and out.
will this screw with all the timing if i left it as is?? what do i not want to do??

thanks for the help guys

if its a TDC with the balancer on "0" take the boly/nut off the hold down on the dizzy and simply lift it up turn the rotor and set it back in when you feel its where it needs to be...? thats what I do on my cars, i'm not sure it works with these trucks so im throwing it out there. correct me if im wrong guys because im not 100% on this

Was thinking the same or moving all wires 1 location, then tweaking.
mines distributerless though so unsure about the "dodge way" LOL

Thats what I would do. You may be able to get away with just rotating the distributer so the the rotor lines up with the 1 position.

see cant really pull the gear out with the "dizzy" (haha) becuase its connected on the oil pump side (i think). that was actually the first thing i tried. when i pulled up on it they just seperated.

i guess i could relocate the wires.. not sure how that will go with the computer and the fuel syne tho.. any other opinions on this??

IMHO, id be moving things/taking things out to get it right again. i wouldnt chance re-routing things. Its designed one way for a reason.

You can pull the dizzy out and then get a magnet and pull the dizzy gear out that way. This magnet will work: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=95933

If you are TDC the slot in the gear should be scewed a little to the driver side of the truck. Look at the picture on post #142 at http://www.bionicdodge.com/bionic/in...opic=10232.135 . Then you line the rotor up with the #1 mark on the camshaft sensor (the black plastic plate under the rotor). This will get you close enough to run the engine, but you will still need to get the fuel sync set.

As someone who has been dealing with this, don't reroute wires not good. You have the distributor gear (yes the one that goes to the oil pump) off a tooth or 2. Pull the distributor use the magnet and set it back in. There is the slot as mentioned above in the top of the gear that the dizzy goes in make sure it is pointed like the picture. Really not a hard fix but space is tight but really the only way to fix it.

you guys are awesome. really do apreciate it. i figured the the gear would be attached to the oil pump for some lame reason. magnet trick sounds good to me. just gotta find a good magnet
