I have searched and looked . cant seem to find the best fix for the plenum leak. hughes kit . where do you find these . and what are some other ops? thanks in advance for any help

you must have searched everywhere except here, where its mentioned about 1.4 million times a day. get the kit with the intake bolts and gaskets. the only other option is APS plate, or make your own out of 1/4" aluminum plate.

The APS one works. I will try to get the Hughes ones fixed.

 

no its cool, I dont mind doing the leg work to find it
but just thought i'd let ya know they died LOL, I think my truck has the plentum leak problem...seriously how hard is it to fix? I can do pretty much anything (drag race wise) but I have never did the first thing to this truck since 99 when it was new except add gas and change oil (preventative type stuff) and tune up's....so ive never been in to deep on these.

You have to remove the intake manifold (and everything associated with it... injectors, fuel lines, air cleaner assembly, sensors, wires, etc., etc.) to get to the bottom side of it (plenum). Once removed, you have to replace the bottom "plenum plate" and gasket. The gaskets are not reusable.

With the new plate, gasket, and bolts from Hughes or APS (or a separate, nicer Felpro gasket from an auto parts store), you should never have the problem with the plenum again.

During my kegger intake mod, instead of dishin out cash for the hughes plenum kit i took the dremel with a small cutting disk to manifold side of the plenum mating surface and cut a shallow groove down the center around the whole intake surface then brought out the grey high temp silicon which i find works best when working on engines. no gasket just silicon. sounds a lil bit hokie but i heard it from a buddy of mine whos a huge mopar nut that experienced the known all to well plenum leak. Ive drove my truck for a month know and took a look down the throttle body the other day and its clean as a whistle in there.
