i say just get it up and running with a motor from junk yard and just work on that as you go ??

You might as well do that, because if you want to build a "cheap" motor from the block up, you'll be working on it every weekend anyway. Cheap parts break fast.

Found an excellent running 318 95,000 miles on it for $500. And also a 360 with 102,000 miles that runs perfect.. for 650. (around my area tho) Found alot better deals than that around here less than 100 miles from me!

You can find great running engines for under $750 all day around here low milage too! I would go that route..

Check out that web site and look and see what they have around you.
