A guide to people who are new to rams
after reading everything i have a couple of things to say
#1. 1Fast2Liter good job on the write up
#2. Thanks for that info Silver
#3. Why are you guys arguing...its a forum...if someone tries to do something useful to the forum, give them props, and then give your constructive critisism, dont bash on the people for trying to help out.

Very good thread, and as far as grammer goes, one click to the old edit button can fix anything! And besides, the Queen of England dosen't always use good grammer.I'm just glad I never have any of those common problems.LOL!!!
Technical writing is an art and a skill. I've been doing it for a living since 1993 both as a magazine editor and a freelance writer for several companies writing instruction manuals and product literature. Conveying complex ideas and technical information to an audience with widely varying mechanical abilities and comprehension can be a difficult task. It is important to provide accurate information separate from personal opinion. This forum in particular presents a tremendous challenge in this regard because we have such a wide spread of ages and abilities. We have many young Ram owners who have very needy trucks they bought cheap and we have older guys, like myself, who are very knowledgeable that love their trucks and prefer an older Ram to a newer one. And everything in between. It's often hard to know where the technical information crosses over into personal opinion or to separate empirical fact from anecdotal evidence.
While I applaud the effort made by 1FastLiter, the reality of internet forums is that there will always be those who blow through the door and start posting without reading the FAQ or without doing a search first. That's just human nature, unfortunately. On other forums I mod this behavior is discouraged aggressively, but I've been told that DF prefers not to use this tactic for fear of driving away newbies. I do what I'm told and rely on the regulars to steer the newbies in the right direction.
I suggest that if anyone wants to do this same thing in the future that they first approach a mod and perhaps submit a rough draft before starting a new thread with it. At the least, it would reduce the consternation and embarassment we've seen in this thread being made public and causing such a stir. Nobody should be discouraged from trying to be helpful, but a little thought and consideration goes a long way.
And spell check or simply rereading your post before hitting the Submit button is always a good idea.

I actually did think of doing something like this a long time ago for the very same reason. The reason I didn't was because of the amount of time involved in gathering and creating such a thing. Would it be benificial, absolutely! Will I sink my time into it, probably not... After all my trans filter change thread (has pic's unlike in faq), my o2 non-fouler (different from regular), and check valve delete (different from regular) never made it in the faq, so why bother?
