Hi all,
The rear passenger door on my '99 quad cab makes a LOT of noise. It latches fine, but it seems like the bottom latch has about 1/8" play in it so that every time I hit a bump it rattles. You can imagine how annoying this would be in Michigan, because the roads are horrible, and when I'm on a dirt road I can't carry on a conversation without yelling over the noise of the door.

Where do I go from here? The door takes a little bit of a tug to get it open, and I can wiggle the bottom of the door a little more than 1/8". The top of the door latches fine. If I close it gently and have it partially latched, the rattling noise will go away for a few miles but then come back. Anyone else have this problem?

 

I have the same issue except my does it randomly. No matter how I shut the door. did you check the latch and see if its got lots of gunk build up from the road??? Maybe its not locking all the way and that's the rattle we have?

 

There isn't any gunk in there, it's just not latching completely I guess. I'll look into it this weekend if I have time. Sure is annoying.

 

i know the feeling driving donw the road enjoying your tunes then all of a sudden ratt a tat tat tat. grrrr gets on my nerves. Can't count how many times i'll pull of and open and shut my door just to try and make it stop.

 

Yup, I've been known to stop at red lights and slam all the doors to see if it helps. It doesn't. Plus it seems like EVERYTHING on this truck rattles...
tailpipe heat shield
spare tire
rear seat
passenger seat
steering intermediate shaft
cup holder
all these things are loose and rattling around and I can't figure out how to tighten them up. Looks like this weekend I get to spend a few hours with the Dodge...
