It's tire time!

Chris, I take everything I read on the internet with a grain of salt, but one thing my many years of forum crawling has taught me (and can be seen in here) is that the majority of people taking the time to write something have negative, not positive, to say. I have been reading post after post about these tires and the overwhelming consensus is that they are a good performer. Not all General tires, just this particular one. I have read positive reviews on a Nissan Pathfinder forum, a Jeep forum, a truck forum, Consumer Reports and a half dozen others. Yes, there were some that replied as you did, but they were in the minority. As we both know, it's usually the unsatisfied that make the loudest noise on the internet, but I'm just not seeing that. Many retailers can't keep these tires in stock, which tells me they are very popular.
The Nittos were my other choice, but there's even less out there about them and slightly more negative replies.
I really didn't want opinions of what other people are using or recommend. I specifically asked for opinions on either of these 2 choices and some first-hand experience if anyone had some. I appreciate the comments from everyone, but many threads in here go this way and end up serving little purpose. Someone asks for feedback about a specific product and they get info about something else, often just opinion based on someone elses experience with a competing product. To be honest, that isn't always helpful since it is often tainted by the poster's personal feelings or criteria that doesn't match that of the person asking. Information is power, but sometimes there is information overload that just makes it more difficult to wade through it all.
In any case, don't take it personal, but I think I'm going with the General.

Well, after many e-mails back and forth it looks like your recommendation isn't going to work out, Max. They will only ship them, I can't pick them up in Anaheim (40 mile drive), so the savings will be spent on shipping. Probably end up going with the Nittos because they are readily available and I can pick them up. Unfortunately, the Nittos are more expensive from Discounttire.com than the Generals and that just doesn't make sense. Think I'll wait until next week to sort this out. My head hurts.

I just get stuff shipped. After you add up your time going to pick them up gas (10mpgs) and wear and tear on your truck is it really worth picking them up?
80 mile round trip at 2.80 a gallon getting 10 miles to the gallon is around 30 dollars, add your time in ect.
Event if stuff is close I get it shipped.
Why go to it when it can come to you?
I'm going to look up another place for you. I'll send it your way via pm.
