Default cam positioning sensor question

Hey guys my 96 1500 4x4 318 dies once it warms up no matter if im doin 60kmh or stopped, then it will start right back up ive checked and cleaned the TPS IAC and no plenum leak, it flashes the cam sensor code which i just replaced last month when i did a engine swap, and to my knowledge the engine wont run if the cam sensors gone will it? i ripped the cat out a long time ago and its ran fine without it. all the vacum lines are good. it just started acting up about a week after i put headers on it. iv done a fare bit of research but cant find any simular probs. any ideas? thanks for the help

Have you checked the fuel pressure with a gauge?

Could be. Got the old one still? Actually the crank pos. sensor can cause this to happen.

My MSD replacement coil lasted ABOUT 3 months before it died all of a sudden. Got the stock one back on and no problems since then. It's been 4 years since this happened.

MSD's quality has slipped severely in the last several years. The 6A box I have causes random misfires like a mother.

I think the same manufacturer makes the accel and MSD direct replacement coil, as they have the same part number stamped on them, just different colored housing.
