Ground wire on starter motor
I had an issue last winter with the main starter wiring coming from the battery down to the starter motor. The positive terminal corroded apart right at the motor by that plastic piece. Anyway, I replaced it last winter. Only problem was, when I was unbolting the wiring at the motor, I, for some reason started undoing the ground wire on the bottom of the motor ( I must have thought it needed to come off too). I guess the nut/bolt was seized to the ground wire, and it tore it right out of the starter motor. I have been fortunate enough to make it this far by just shoving the torn end back into the starter and having it work no problems lol.
Within the last couple weeks, the odd time the truck wont start unless I go under and wiggle that jammed wire. It's in bad shape and I'd like to remove and replace the wire.
Does anyone have a starter motor rebuild link, or know the ease of removing the starter and putting a new ground wire in? Seems to me like its just the 3 bolts holding the starter on, and the electrical connections.

i don't have a link, but a starter is just a dc electric motor. although nobody rebuilds them much anymore, all they usually need is brushes, bushings, bendix.
look at it this way. the damn thing is going to strand you out in the rain and cold pretty soon and its not going to start. so go ahead and remove it and try to fix it. odds are that you can. the worst thing that can happen is that you have to buy another one.
if you can't fix it, a shady way to look at it is - maybe this is a warranty issue?

Luckily I have a manual transmission, so I always have the luxury of a bump start lol.
I was debating taking some 4awg stereo power wire with a ring terminal on one end, and seeing if that works for a ground. I don't see why it wouldn't.
