Default Lifting my Ram

Hey guys, I just got my 1999 ram about 2 months ago. It was a government service vehicle with only 40k on it so I got a sweet deal. Anyway, I want to lift it. I was looking at the Skyjacker 7" long arm kit because trails and rocks are more my style than mud and I want as much flex as I can get. Does anybody have any feedback on the kit? I was hoping to run 35" tires so that rubbing isn't an issue and to keep the truck from getting to be so high that it's a pain in the *** to get in and out of everyday, not to mention fuel economy. But I don't want it to look weird; I'm sure you all seen a truck at one point that was really ugly because the lift was way to big for the tires. If anyone has any info or pics I'd love to hear from you. Or if anyone has pics of a 5" suspension lift with a 2" body lift with 35" tires just to get an idea of what it will actually look like. Thanks.

Go with a 5 inch suspenion lift, i had a 7 inch lift and i took mine down to 3 because it's not really worth the issues you run into, something that high would be for mudding not trails or rockcrawling. 5inch lift with 35's will be fine

You do not need to go to a 7" lift to clear 35s. It will look goofy too. And if you have a short bed regular cab you'll run into front-end issues. Look at 5" kits if you don't want to make front fender 'adjustments'. If you're willing to make a few minor adjustments to the front fenders then go with a 3" kit. Before you get your setup you should decide now if you're going to put on a heavier bumper and winch so you can get the right springs.

i think 35's are too small, even with my 5.5 inch lift. id go with 37s for a 7 inch lift.

What adjustments? I am in the same boat trying to decided between 3" or 5" lift kit to fit my 35's.

getting a torch and melting back some of your finderwell, just melts the plastic back enough to get clearance. or you can do what some other people do and just take the damn things out.

Does anybody have any feedback on the performance of their 5" or 7" lift? Particularly flex, and long-arm suspensions. Does anyone have any pictures of a 7" lift?

bump on this one.

I'm looking into putting a kit on my 1999 Ram 1500 4x4. I've been looking at the 5" BDS kit with long arms and new leafs. But just trying to figure out my options. I just want to be able to fit 35"s.
