Exhaust questions
So my exhaust has just recently rusted out and I have been reading around and I know how complicated an exhaust system is so my plan is to do true dual exhaust, I was hoping someone who has that could tell me the best way to run the second pipe if it's even possible, and my second question is what size pipe to get ik if you do single then you will want a bigger pipe than if you do duals, but I still am unsure as to what size to get, and my final question is to what muffler to get, I want it to be loud but not sound like crap I was looking at flowmasters but I was told that they rob some power so now I'm thinking magnaflow, but just let me know what you guys think I really need the help so everything will be appreciated thanks in advance guys
i don't know one loud muffler from another, but be sure you keep your o2 sensors in place. if you just have the standard federal emission system, it only has 1 pre-cat o2 and 1 post-cat o2. the pre-cat needs to be in the exhaust stream, so if you do true duals, you need to have a connecting H pipe and put the pre-cat 02 in it. don't just put the o2 in one side. the other option is to combine the exhaust in a y pipe like stock, and then split it after the o2/cat.
ok i have a glasspack on it now and i did like how it sounded just didnt know if there was any better options for the muffler, and for the H pipe thing would i be able to get away with only putting one cat in the H part or will i still need to get 2 cats? and any thoughts on the pipe size my friend told me the fatter the pipe the deeper the sound, but i dont want to have poor performace with the whole back pressure thing, this stuff confuses the heck out of me so thanks for the help soo far
Well my setup is not loud, but I have true duals with 2.5 pipe.
I would not reccomend going any bigger than that with duals, I have no emissions so I have no cats, and I have a magnaflow muffler that X's inside it solving the problem of needing a H or X pipe
If you need to run a cat my suggestion is to get a magnaflow high flow cat and run a 3in single pipe with a muffler of your choice or none at all if you want it loud, this way keeps it cheaper than having to get 2 cats.

you could run cutouts in front of the cats to make it really lound also there is a muffler called the warlock i forget who makes it but it has built in cut outs so you still have the muffler there for inspection.
also pipe size i was always told 3" if you want more top end and 2.5" for bottom so it all depends on wht you want.

yea i was going to get a magnaflow high flow cat cuz at zeibarts they have them for 70, and i have the single exhaust now, and it didn't sound bad, i was just curious of how some of you other guys ran it for the true duals
Don't know about the pipes but if you want it really loud as in close to straight pipe loud with only the Flowmaster tone I'd look into the Flowmaster 10 series. If you want it loud but not that loud I don't think you can go wrong with the Flowmaster 40 or 44 series. I'm a Flowmaster fan. I'm not sure you gain as much power as a Magnaflow but I prefer the sound to them. Honestly, I've done exhausts on stuff and really I've never felt much if any of a difference. You need to be doing the exhaust for the sound to be happy with it. If your trying to get power you will feel the exhaust probably isn't the thing to do.
