Why do dodge ford and chevy have the same power class of trucks ?
iv always wonderd why dodge, chevy and also ford have 1500,2500,3500 series trucks BUT if you look it's only domestic's that have those series, nissan/toyota/honda/mitsu all have their own classes.
Is it something they worked out when they all came togeather to make american motors or what ?

I think it had to do with competition the domestic tried to beat each other in their classes but the foriegn countries tried to go in between the classes because thay didnt want to go head on with the big 3, it makes more sense to try and get the guys in between were at one time there was no competition

Uhm, Ford uses 150, 250, and 350 for their trucks. And Dodge used to use W100, W150, W200, and W300 for theirs (among others). Chevys were C50, C100 and C150 back in the day. The main reason they are so alike today is to make it easier for potential purchasers to compare one brand to another.

Chevy was c10,c20,c30.4wd was K5{blazer},k10,k20,k30.At one time ford offered an f100,alongside the f150.Its just a class designation between 1/2,3/4,and 1 ton trucks. In the beginning the imports didnt even rate the 1/2 ton designation.Eventually Toyota will bring a 1 ton to market.I dont think the big 3 came together to make American Motors. That was a different company

AMC wasn't the big three, more like the little two (Hudson and Nash). Flagship model was the Rambler and the novelty of the little Metropolitan. later the Gremlin and Pacer. they had a good run in the 60's and early 70's but the Jeep was the only thing to survive it all.
