Default Won't engage Park!?!

Hi, weird occurance today, I went out with the truck and when I arrived at my destination, I go to put the transmission into Park and the truck acted as if it was in neutral; it would not lock in Park. I put it back in drive, then reverse, then tried park again and still it was acting like neutral.

I then reversed out of the parking spot and had to find a place that had a curb so that if the truck rolled (my parking brake doesn't work) then the truck would have something to hit againest. After a short little drive to find a suitable curb, I go to put it into Park and this time it engauged Park and locked into Park; you know when you let go of the brake and it rolls just a little and then locks.

This was really weird, I've never experienced this, and I always thought that the transmissions linkage was a mechanical linkage, correct?

I don't know if this is related, but I also got a OBD code P0720 yesterday and it repeated this morning, Output speed sensor, but the truck drives completey fine, all shifts are as they normally are.

What's going on with my ride?

Well I can only tell you that I had a Zcar with a auto and it was a problem with the parking pin. The tranny never had any other issue other then sometime it would click a couple times and then lock in some times, other times i would have to use the parking brake. Sorry to not be much help but maybe its just a parking pin?
