shifting problem
i have a 01 dodge ram 1500 with just short of 70000 miles. it has the 5.2 . Recently the truck has been shifting or should i say not shifting. It starts out in drive and will only go into 2nd if i manually shift it down. It shifts at 3000 rpm when it will shift. NO power at all. I took to tranny shop and they scanned told me tranny was perfect. Took to dodge dealership they scanned said pcm was throwing code and that will affect trans shifting. (they wanted 700 for pcm plus $75 programming) so i got online found a place in florida that rebuilds them and sends you a new pcm for 150. So i bought one and put it in no difference. still throws code and doesnt shift right. where do i go from here? any help would be great
throwing po601 code i called back the auto computer exchange place i got it from they are saying my battery is below 11 amps before charging so it is sending new pcm into old mode. dont know if i believe that they said they are going to program another one and send it.
Do a google search of that code and go from there. Your transmission may be caput. For your sake, I hope not, but the 46re is not known for being a fantastic transmission. They don't seem to last very long. I have an 01 with the 5.9 and my transmission just went out at 118,000.
That code is for a pcm error and sometimes does not effect driving you first need to get rid of the code though, I would have a nice chat with the company that fixed your pcm becuase it still is throwing the code
